The future is rural

Meet leaders and visionaries from Africa and South Asia on 24 September 5 pm CET to engage in dialogue with European stakeholders.

On 24 September at 5 pm CET, the German stakeholder organisations of the special initiative ONE WORLD WITHOUT HUNGER invite you to the online programme Meet the people driving rural transformation on their website weltohnehunger.org. The idea behind the format: liveable rural areas can only be shaped by the deeds and ideas of their people. Local governments, the member states of the European Union (EU) and the EU itself have shown that they can support these rural actors and create the right environment for their ideas to grow. But more needs to be done. EU development ministers will meet on 29 September 2020. The message to them is clear: we can achieve SDG2, a world without hunger is possible. It is time to meet the people who are driving rural change.

Experts from the Global South and stakeholders from the international SDG2 community will enter into dialogue on the creation of liveable rural areas. Moderated by Christine Mhundwa of Deutsche Welle, the programme will be addressed by Dr. Maria Flachsbarth, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Million Belay, Coordinator of the Alliance for Food Sovereignty for Africa, as well as Elizabeth Nsimadala, President of the Pan-African Farmers' Organisation (PAFO) and Mathias Mogge, Chairman of the Board of Directors of German Agro Action.
