Online event: climate change and a future without coffee

The International Research Institute for Climate and Society and Fairtrade invite you to a conversation about the connections between climate change, human rights, and a future without coffee.

A future without coffee. Hard to imagine, but according to Fairtrade and the IRI, a possible reality if coffee farmers continue to face the increasing effects of climate change. Droughts and pest infestations are increasingly stressing the plants. But economic factors also play an important role in coffee production. According to Fairtrade, current prices are below the minimum they set and thus do not even cover production costs.

The event shows connections between climate change and social justice in the coffee industry and what politics, industry and consumers can do - for a future with fair coffee.
