23. February 2021

The annual kick-off meeting of the Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains Initiative (INA) took place in early February. Held for the first time as a virtual event, the 63 participating stakeholders exchanged views on existing projects of the initiative as well as possibilities for future activities.

The event was opened by Sebastian Lesch, Head of Division 122 at Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, who underlined the importance of multi-stakeholder-partnerships and cooperation for sustainable development. He further called to jointly set the agenda to work for sustainable growing regions, deforestation-free supply chains and fair living incomes and wages.

Key milestones of the initiative were then presented by Silke Peters, Team Leader Program Development and Monitoring, and Jona Ziebula, Deputy Program Leader. In addition, representatives of the participating companies reported from the projects and provided exciting insights into their work. Finally, the stakeholders were given the opportunity to discuss the topics, formats and projects of the initiative in a direct exchange.

The Initiative for Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains would like to thank all participants and looks forward to new activities with its stakeholders - for fair, global and sustainable agricultural supply chains.
