Where does your coffee actually come from? Perhaps also from Ethiopia?

The chances are high, because Ethiopia is the country of origin of coffee and Germany is the second largest importer of coffee. The per capita consumption of bean coffee in Germany in 2020 was 168 litres per year, which is higher than the consumption of mineral water (142l) or beer (100l).

Over 15 million people work during the coffee harvest, which lasts from October to December. Although Ethiopia is the fifth largest coffee exporter, Ethiopians consume more coffee than they export. This shows the important role coffee plays in their lives.

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), in cooperation with INA, has released a 360° film that allows you to be up close and personal with the coffee harvest. Roam independently through the forests of an INA project, which is carried out by the Global Programme Sustainability and Value Added in Agricultural Supply Chains.
