Tropical Forest Symposium

As part of the Convention on Biological Diversity, experts will discuss important issues concerning the protection of tropical forests in the livestream.

Our ONE WORLD also depends on the conservation of forests. At the upcoming UN conferences (COPs) on biodiversity and climate in Kunming and Glasgow, the protection of tropical forests will therefore be the focus of political attention.

An appropriate share of climate and biodiversity funding should be dedicated to forests in this context, as they play an important role for the climate as carbon sinks.
This requires fair negotiations and agreements between tropical forest countries and the international community.

In preparation for the upcoming UN conferences, Dr. Gerd Müller, Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, will present and discuss effective approaches to forest protection together with key players in international forest policy.

The event will be held in German, English and French. During a Q&A session, audience members will have the opportunity to participate in the discussion via chat.

When? Wednesday, September 8, 2021, 10:00 to 13:00 CEST via live stream.
