Roundtable Discussion: Business and Human Rights

The fifth roundtable hosted by the Agency for Business & Development will discuss how partnerships between companies and NGOs can help end child labor in all its forms.

The International Labor Organization (ILO) introduces the online event with facts and background information on human rights risks along the supply and value chain, as well as the current situation of child labor. In addition, partnerships between civil society and companies will be presented. Therefore, Save the Children and Lidl provide insights on remedial measures to eliminate child labor. Finally, all participants will have the opportunity to get involved in an interactive discussion session.

Background information

Child labor remains a problem: According to the ILO, around 152 million girls and boys are affected worldwide. Therefore, 2021 has been declared the International Year for the Elimination of Child Labor by the United Nations. The goal is to eliminate child labor by 2025.
