Current market prices for agricultural commodities are often too low for smallholder families in producing countries to achieve a living income despite good agricultural practices. Fair prices are therefore an essential part of enabling them to achieve a decent level of income. Here, the Living Income Toolkit offers a practical solution. It provides users in global companies with a guide and toolkit on how to better embed and implement living incomes in their supply chains. The calculation of reference prices for agricultural products also plays a role in this approach.

We already gave an introduction to the Living Income Toolkit in the second edition of "Online nur Kännchen" on 25.11.2020. The upcoming event is now dedicated examine in more depth strategies for closing the income gap in agricultural commodity supply chains. Different approaches to calculating a reference price as well as practical examples illustrate successes but also challenges in implementation.
