Germany's largest food retailers are campaigning for a halt to deforestation and the destruction of native vegetation in the Cerrado savannah. In a joint declaration, Aldi-Nord, Aldi-Süd, EDEKA, Kaufland, Lidl, Metro, Netto Marken-Discount and Rewe call on Brazilian soy traders to end deforestation for soy production. The signatories thus assume their responsibility to protect the most species-rich savannah forest on earth.
