• Supply Chain Act
22. October 2021

The Bündnis 90/Die Grünen parliamentary group in the Bundestag invites to an online event on 22 October to discuss the structure of the Supply Chain Act.

Again and again, extreme environmental pollution and human rights violations occur in global supply chains all over the world. This is why the debate on a supply chain act has gained momentum in Germany in recent years. Today the question is no longer whether a supply chain act should be introduced, but how it should be designed.

A German supply chain act will send out a signal for possible European regulations and – if effectively drafted – can decisively advance environmental and human rights protection worldwide. In this context, opportunities and risks must be carefully weighed up and science and civil society must be included alongside business and politics. It is important to learn from the experiences of other countries that have already adopted legal regulations.

Together with representatives from science, civil society and business, the organisers want to discuss the design of a German supply chain act. Are the German government's proposals so far far far-reaching enough? Given the large number of suppliers in global supply chains, can the law be implemented at all? What would a supply chain act change for companies and workers in the Global South - and what would it not change? What will happen in Germany and the EU?

The event will be streamed. You can use the participation tool to contribute questions and comments. You will receive the access data with your registration confirmation. Shortly before the event begins, the organisers will send you a reminder e-mail.
