INA-Lunchbreak on supply chain due diligence act part 23

In our next INA Lunchbreak we will deal with the 'Establishment of a national traceability system using the example of Ghana'. The respective progress and challenges are also discussed.
Important regulations have been introduced to ensure social and environmental sustainability in global agricultural supply chains. The EU regulation on deforestation-free products (EUDR) is in force and will apply from the end of 2024. The EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) for social and environmental risks is being finalised. The German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG) has been in force since January 2023. Providing evidence poses major challenges for the cocoa sector, in which smallholder farms dominate the cultivation. For this reason, not only companies but also producing countries are setting up national traceability systems. Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire are well advanced.
Claudia Maier, Country Coordinator of the Sustainable Cocoa Initiative Support Programme of GIZ in Ghana, will report on the status of the implementation of the Ghanaian Cocoa Traceability System. Its significance for the private sector will be highlighted in an interview with Salifou Traoré, Managing Director at Cargill. Afterwards, a discussion will offer all participants the opportunity to exchange their ideas.
The one-hour online meeting takes place on the first Friday of the month.
The date is Friday, 01.12.2023 from 12.00–1.00pm CET.
The event will be held in English.
