INA-Lunchbreak on supply chain due diligence act part 22
The next INA Lunchbreak will be dedicated to the presentation of the “OECD-FAO Business Handbook on Deforestation and Due Diligence in Agricultural Supply Chains”.
Goal 15 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) calls for ending deforestation by 2020. Yet, three years later, this goal has not been achieved. Businesses can, however, make a significant contribution to this goal. To this end, OECD and FAO have published a handbook for companies to address the risks of deforestation and forest degradation in their agricultural supply chains through due diligence. The handbook also builds on leading international government-backed OECD standards for supply chain due diligence and responsible business conduct.
We will therefore talk about corporate due diligence on deforestation in our 22nd INA-Lunchbreak. After all, social and environmental sustainability can only be guaranteed if companies in global supply chains are equally committed to it.
On this occasion, Tomislav Ivancic from FAO will present the handbook and highlight its most important findings. Concrete examples will be used to illustrate how companies can reduce their risk of deforestation and forest degradation, followed by a discussion with the audience.
The one-hour online meeting takes place on the first Friday of the month.
The date is Friday, 03.11.2023 from 12.00–1.00pm CET.
The event will be held in English.
