The side session to the 'OECD Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector' deals with opportunities and challenges for international buyers regarding due diligence.

The session will look into recent reforms and developments in the cotton and textile sector in Uzbekistan and highlight opportunities as well as challenges for international buyers and their due diligence, with an emphasis on capacity building and supply chain transparency. 
 
The audience will benefit from first-hand insights into the recent developments of the cotton andtextile sector in Uzbekistan, including the progress made concerning child and forced labor and a presentation of current sustainability projects in the sector. 
 
Speakers include representatives from UzTextilprom, International Labor Organization (ILO), Humanitarian Legal Center (HLC) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).

The OECD Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector will be hosted by the OECD as a virtual forum on 21-25 February 2022 as part of a full week of events and brings together representatives from government, business, trade unions and civil society to address emerging risks and to share learnings on implementing labour, human rights, environmental and anti-corruption due diligence in the sector across geographies.
